Michael R. Levine has practiced in criminal defense for more than 35 years. He was a former federal public defender in California, Hawaii and Oregon from the 1970s until 2002, when he entered private practice. Mr. Levine has taught legal writing and criminal law and is the author of 171 Easy Mitigating Factors (formerly 88 Easy Departures), used by defense attorneys nationwide in federal court sentencing. He has earned the AV Preeminent rating* as well as inclusion in Oregon Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America.

Matthew McHenry has distinguished himself as a formidable trial and appellate attorney in criminal law, and also has a background in police misconduct and civil rights litigation. After joining the firm in 2004, he and Mr. Levine eventually joined forces as law partners. He has been selected to Super Lawyers. Mr. McHenry has also been a featured speaker for the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (OCDLA), and authored a chapter in Major Crimes and Defenses, a publication of OCDLA.

Mark Kimbrell is a successful litigator who specializes in appeals and complex cases. He joined the office as Of Counsel in 2022. He has significant appellate experience, a keen eye for detail, and strong research and writing skills. Mark has spoken at Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association conferences, provided appellate updates, and authored publications for the Willamette Law Review, Oregon Defense Attorney Journal, and the Oregon State Bar.
